There are many who believe that love and commitment transcend sexual boundaries and there are perhaps more who believe that same sex marriages, and any sexual activity between the same
sex, is an affront to all that Americans hold dear. The following paper provides arguments against same sex marriages. (It should be noted that the student requesting this paper asked
that the paper be aimed at arguing in front of Congress, but the student should note that the arguments will be presented and that it is up to the student
to formulate their own argument aimed at the political forces of Congress in relationship to same sex marriages). Same Sex Marriages It should first be understood that it appears
as though the majority of citizens in the United States oppose same sex marriages. This, in and of itself is often cause enough to ensure that a particular way of
life is maintained. The United States is a nation built on heeding the needs and desires of the majority and as such is a nation that clearly needs to attend
to the needs of society in this case. In better understanding the opinions of the majority one article indicates the following: "On the same day as that Massachusetts Supreme Court
decision to allow gay marriages, a new Pew Center poll shows 59 percent of Americans oppose such marriages, thats up from 55 percent in a poll by a different organization
last month. The Pew poll, meanwhile, shows opposition to gay marriage tends to be stronger with age, with 74 percent of those over 65 opposed, while 46 percent of those
