That is, people will strive to look a certain way, or be a certain way in order to be a part of the crowd and to be desirable. In the
film, Adam and Evelyn meet in a museum and when she is smitten, he is at first surprised she would even entertain the thought of a relationship with someone like
him. He says: "Why would you like me? Im not anything." The idea that only certain types will be drawn to others is apparent. Evelyn is a very pretty girl
and Adams self-esteem is low. As the film progresses, not only does Adam realize he has feelings for an old friend Jenny, but also that Evelyn is not quite
as happy with Adam as she had been when they first met. Interestingly, their names are similar to the biblical Adam and Eve and Adam is of course the one
who is manipulated by the only woman he feels is suitable for him. In the biblical tale, Eve convinces Adam to act against Gods laws, but in this film, Evelyn
tries to change Adam physically. On some level, altering ones nose is changing Gods handicraft. Even more symbolically, the pair meet amongst sculpture that has been crafted by man. Is
Evelyn a beguiling sculptor who wants to mold Adam? There are other thematic elements in the work, but it seems that the main part of the plot could center on
this one idea that may be expanded to include all love relationships. After all, when people first meet they are accepting of anothers flaws, but as time goes on, one
