an assessment of the networking strategies employed by "Bob," a 25 year veteran principal of a small suburban high school. Bobs interview provides some important information about the nature
of networking and the changes that have been made in recent years. Interview Summary When I contacted Bob about interviewing him to discuss networking and his approaches, Bob
commented that it was an interesting topic because things had changed so much in his district in recent years. He stated that when he first began as a principal,
not a lot of networking occurred. He stated that he was the leadership of the school and any networking that occurred was the result of parents and teachers making
decisions about what needed to be done and proposing changes to the principal. From time to time, this would lead to community networking, in which the principal sought the
help of others in the community to get things done. In recent years, networking has become a focus of a number of the administrative conferences he attended and
is a part of his strategy for integrating community and educational leaders into school-wide action plans. Bob described networking in three different aspects of his job: community networking,
educator-leader networking and principal-to-principal networking. He also interjected that while state networking systems were in place, the size and composition of his school made it more important to focus
on networking within the local community. He identified the superintendents office as one support mechanism for state networking, but stated that most of his daily activities and even his
