Center requires the support of a variety of health care providers and practitioners. Generally, the mission of Miami Valley
Hospital supports efforts to enhance womens health services from a general perspective. The central goal of the organization is to "be the preeminent provider of comprehensive and cost-effective hospital
and outpatient services and have as its goal the delivery of high quality patient care and service in the Greater Miami Valley Region" (Miami Valley Hospital, 2004). In addressing
this mission, the hospital has created departmental division and center locations to support access and direct services and resources to particular health needs. Womens health, then, has been a
significant focus in recent years. The mission of the Womens Health Center at Miami Valley includes a commitment to helping women of a
variety of ages live healthier, longer lives. The organization recognizes that women are central figures in the family and that their health often impacts the health and well-being of
other members in a family (Miami Valley Hospital, 2004). As a result, the Womens Health Center focuses on health maintenance, preventative care and response to illnesses that impact both
women and their families. This can include everything from childbirth support to immunization clinics, all of which are conducted within the Womens Health Center (Miami Valley Hospital, 2004).
In recent years, Miami Valley Hospital has sought the application of a patient- and family-centered model in order to address the scope of patient needs.
