better part of every weekend to not just washing and waxing their cars, but detailing them. These "neat" people would never leave a McDonalds wrapper or a used styrofoam coffee
cup in their car. It would be sacrilege. On the other hand, open the door to the car of a "sloppy" person and the debris from car lunches over the
last several months may come cascading out. This basic orientation toward life appears to carry over into other activities and locations. To test this is relatively simple. It merely requires
charting the habits of a few friends, relatives or acquaintances. For example, the condition of a co-workers desk-- stacks of paper piled all over it, competing for space with
gum wrappers, family photos, and a dead philodendron, suggested that this person was in the "sloppy" category. Watching this person locate an important paper is fascinating. There is definitely method
to this madness. This person appeared to have a system that resembles geology. All papers on top were new. If asked for a paper from the previous week, the individual
immediately delved into the mid-range of a specific pile and retrieved it within seconds. As this suggests, the material was in layers or strata that the co-worker had memorized. A
glance in the co-workers car affirmed the assessment of sloppiness, as the floor boards in all passenger areas were engulfed at least a foot of debris. Likewise, another co-worker
has a desk that is of the proverbial "neat as a pin" variety. Always free of clutter, with all important papers in their proper files, the desk blotter is
