known. Navy SEALS are an elite group of military operatives. The Army and Marines for example also have high level groups that go under various names. Each of these groups,
to a large extent, are involved in special operations and usually are the first to go in and complete a mission in new territory. In the Navy, the SEALS are
a significant part of the military. Navy SEALS are actually part of a Sea, Air and Land team ("Navy," 2005). The first group of volunteers to serve in this
capacity were chosen from the Seabees of the Naval Construction Battalions during 1943 (2005). That was at the tail end of the Second World War. The volunteers had
been organized into teams dubbed Navy Combat Demolition Units (NCDUs) (2005). These units had been tasked with the reconnoitering as well as clearing beach obstacles as it respects troops who
might go ashore during amphibious landings (2005). This evolves into Combat Swimmer Reconnaissance Units (2005). The demolition units would in fact distinguish themselves during the Second World War, both
in the Atlantic and Pacific and during 1947, the Navy did organize its first underwater offensive strike ("Navy," 2005). This is a time when the SEALS as a group were
rather young. When the Korean War began, the Underwater Demolition Teams (UDTs) would take part in "the landing at Inchon" in addition to other missions which included but were
not limited to demolition raids (2005). By the time the 1960s rolled around, each branch of the service would form its own counterinsurgency force and the Navy utilized UDT personnel
