of the organization has changed over the years. For example, the nature of organization in 1945 was authoritarian, assembly line, with strict rules and clear hierarchies. It was based on
scientific theoretical perspectives of the time. The nature has changed dramatically from that and is following a theoretical perspective of empowerment and collaboration. The nature of todays organization includes employee
involvement, teams, alliances, flatter and decentralized networks (McNamara, 2010). The perspective is that organizations are organic, which means they are living and growing entities that respond to external as well
as internal forces. Todays organizations must be learning organizations in that technology and ideas are changing rapidly. They must also be able to adapt and change quickly. There is
even a virtual organization that is digital in nature (think Amazone.com or eBay). Teams are becoming more autonomous and often have the responsibility of managing themselves (McNamara, 2010). Organizations operate
within their societies and because of this, they will reflect the values and norms of that society. As Dickson, BeShears and Gupta (2004) stated: it seems clear that societal characteristics
can and do influence the characteristics of the organizations within the society" (p. 76). It is also true that the industry within which the organization competes has an impact on
the nature of the organization. The industry will influence the type of organizational culture in that organization and operational procedures will be modeled on what succeeds in that industry (Dickson,
BeShears & Gupta, 2004). The nature of the community has also changed. The Internet is one of the major reasons for the changes. In fact, the Internet has created its
