examines both sides of the issue. Naturalized Citizens as President? The legal condition involving naturalized citizens and the office of the President of the United States is based
on the 28th Amendment which states that "No person except a natural born citizen ... shall be eligible to the office of president" (Kasindorf, 2004). However, there are many individuals,
and many of them with power and money, who want to see Arnold Schwarzenegger have the opportunity to run for President of the United States. Despite the fact that the
notion of a naturalized citizen becoming president has been died in front of Congress numerous times since the 1870s people are still arguing the case (Kasindorf, 2004). "Schwarzeneggers rise in
politics has led members of Congress and a few of the governors wealthy California donors to launch a long-shot campaign that they have cast as an effort to guarantee equal
rights for millions of foreign-born Americans" (Kasindorf, 2004). While the Constitution clearly indicates that foreign born individuals cannot be President of the United States, many proponents are arguing the cause
that you cannot choose your land of birth, but you can possess the choice of which nation you love and this should stand as something in the fight to allow
naturalized citizens to run for President. However, in direct relationship to Schwarzenegger, it seems that most voters do not want naturalized citizens to have that choice and most would not
