There were no windows to the outside, and certainly no opportunity to gain any air that had not been filtered and "conditioned" before reaching the people inside. Breaks

instead. One example is Louis Kahns Exeter Library in Exeter, New Hampshire. The buildings interior features the intersection of two perpendicular walls above, which are open to traffic
below the point where they end. The placement of the walls invite the individual to look up, to take note of the space above him as well as that
surrounding him on all horizontal sides. Variations of light within each of the quadrants create far greater visual interest than could be possible without it.
