the idea that homosexuality is wrong to the notion that cultural relativity is a ridiculous notion. Today, there are many people in the world who argue the virtues of morality
from a religious point of view. Yet, there are people who are not sure whether or not God exists and for such people, natural law theory makes a lot of
sense. The concept of natural law began with the Roman Empire as they analyzed law ("Natural Law"). The Stoics also would embrace the concept ("Natural Law"). It
began as a secular matter. There is an idea that things are natural, that they arise as a part of whatever created the Universe that can be, but is not
necessarily, God. By definition, Natural Law is: "Moral standards which, on a long dominant but now disfavored type of account of morality, political philosophy, and law, can justify and guide
political authority, make legal rules rationally binding, and shape concept formation in even descriptive social theory" (Honderich 606). That is a rather technical explanation. It is also somewhat narrow because
natural law has a myriad of implications. The tradition of natural law ethics is tied to Thomas Aquinas in suggesting that reasons reflects human nature and is able to discover
the truth as it respects particular moral norms (Koterski 415). Natural law is something that sees an ultimate source as having a built in moral code (Koterski 415).
It seems that whoever created the world is also the "moral lawgiver" (Koterski 415). This is a tradition that has also held that individuals who are from any culture can
understand natural law even without knowing God, simply by understanding human inclinations through personal experience (Koterski 415). In other words, people understand that lying, killing or otherwise harming living things
