by the acronym NCPS. At least, that is how it is known to the public and to its clients. Of course, NCPS is more than just a check verification center,
even though the letters stand for National Check Protection Services. It is a company that provides a slew of verification services for businesses. Many of the services go to perspective
employees but may be used for other purposes as well. While there is competition in the industry, NCPS is one of the most important providers of services that go to
employee screening ("NCPS," 2005). One can imagine that when someone hires an individual, there is a lot of leg work involved in verifying where the person may have lived, worked
and whether or not they have felonies attached to their record. This is something that is rather routine. Dependent upon the level of employee being hired, a full investigation can
conceivably be made in a relatively short period of time. When hiring a cashier for example, there may be a quick check as there are so many people for that
level hired in retail and background checks can be expensive. But when a firm hires a CFO for example who will be handling the companys money, a background check is
in order. No one wants to hire someone whose credentials are false or who has stolen money before. That is why many firms hire experts at tracking down information. In
the past, human resource companies would handle background checks themselves but more and more, companies are turning to these sorts of firms that can perform an array of verification tasks.
Within seventy two hours, NCPS can take a resume and check it for accuracy and that not only includes a criminal investigation but an educational one as well ("NCPS," 2005).
