perhaps the true first, slave narrative. It is a work that illustrates the various conditions a slave could and did experience, all through the life of one man who grew
up in slavery and became a free man. It is a very intelligent work, and a work that is not angry or ignorant. It is told from the perspective of
the man who was determined to be educated, determined to be free, and determined to help change conditions in the society once he was a free man. The following paper
reviews Douglass work. Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass Douglass work is an autobiography. In that one could say that there is no one single thesis for
it is the story of the authors life and his experiences up until after he became a free man. A persons life is not a thesis for it is filled
with many different experiences and findings and ideals. It is complex and as such does not simply point to one element that is important. However, at the same time this
work, although about Douglass life, is also a work that was written for a reason and that reason was not simply to recall a mans life. In the introduction
of Douglass work one author, unknown, notes the following in relationship to Douglass and why he undertook the project of writing his story: "In 1841 he addressed a convention of
the Massachusetts Anti-Slavery Society in Nantucket and so greatly impressed the group that they immediately employed him as an agent. He was such an impressive orator that numerous persons doubted
if he had ever been a slave, so he wrote Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass." In this one sees that the main purpose for Douglass writing this
