and treatments of the past seem primitive. It appears obvious that as medical knowledge and science develop hand in hand that as a society method that can not only help
cure illnesses, but increase health and prevent illnesses should be pursued. This would appear both ethical and humane, but it may also be argued that there are some issues which
require ethical consideration. Nanotechnology is new, and the potential uses in terms of medical applications are broad ranging. While it is unlikely for anyone to argue against the development of
nanotechnology to help cure illnesses such as cancer, the way it is used may be more open to question. As technology rather than a biological treatment only there are more
opportunities for abuse or potential abuse, nanotechnology could allow fore breaches of privacy by allowing the transfer of data regarding the patient, there are also issues of how the technology
is used,. To cure an illness may be seen as different to the use of technology to enhance skills or physical performance. There are also the issues of utilizing treatments
that may have long term unknown consequences which may not show up in long term medical trials. While nanotechnology is offering a potentially large number of benefits there are also
a wide range of ethical and acceptability issues that need to be considered and it is likely that this will simply raise more questions than the amount of answers
that can be determined. The use of technology being placed in the body is not a new concept, technology has been used as way of helping patients for many
years, there has been the use of deceives such as pacemakers for many years and the benefits have been enormous, extending not only life span but also improving quality of
