Nam-Jun Paik "Nam-Jun Paik was born in Seoul, Korea in 1932 and is now an American citizen" (Nam-Jun Paik (1932-), 2005). In so many ways he has been a very powerful player in the evolution of art in a technological world. His art is considered to be incredibly innovative, instilling in the viewer a new understanding or a new relationship with technology. As one author notes, "Paik has been a central figure in avant-garde art throughout his career, and his innovative work in the fields of video art, performance art, installation art, satellite transmission, painting and music composition has had a profound influence on contemporary art" (Nam-Jun Paik (1932-), 2005). His first exhibit was in 1963 in Germany where he presented altered televisions (Nam-Jun Paik (1932-), 2005). His work involves the television in most cases and he essentially utilizes the screen to present images that constantly changing for one reason or another. For example, one of his most famous works is called MagnetTV. In this we have a television set wherein "the contorted light-rays dance and transform as you move the magnet" that is connected to the movement on the screen of the television (Nankivell, 2005).
