Achebe mirrors much the same perspective, insofar as his comes from a male standpoint and Gordimers is derived from the female counterpart. Gordimer and Achebes stories may have spawned
from two separate perspectives, but they both possess many of the same elements of truth. Achebe seeks to educate and, thus, advance society regarding Nigerian oppression, while Gordimers aim
is to evoke the same in a decidedly more adamant fashion. Both accounts encompass the intrinsic yearning to break free from socially prejudicial confines, yet they are also significantly
individual in their approach. Nigerian existence may have been significantly oppressive under the rule of British imperialism; however, the struggles that Africans faced
after this rule had been eliminated served to more defiantly strengthen their quest for independence. Achebe illustrates that for nearly as long as man has existed, racism has been
driving a wedge between the Caucasian race and all other ethnicities. Somewhere back in the beginning of civilization and continuing in throughout the European colonization, an unwritten law came
into effect that proclaimed the white race as one that was better than all others, much more deserving of lifes benefits and privileges, and free to ravage. This attitude
