in Nada is a completely feminine point of view. The novel offers a pattern for understanding femininity that deviates completely from the male paradigm. It is a pattern where the
egos boundaries are not set firmly, but allow Andrea to merge and fully empathize with those around her. In this way, the novel does offer a unique feminist perspective.
It shows a pattern for maturation that is uniquely feminine. Additionally, Andreas relationships with other women in the novel offer something seldom found in literature. These relationships show the
depth of feeling that can exist between women, that while it may have a sexual component, goes beyond the merely physical. These relationships infer that a woman can only be
truly understood within the context of a relationship with another woman?whether thats within the original female relationship that exists between mother and daughter, or with another woman later in
life. Sexuality defines the overall tone of the novel. Andrea is a sexual being who desires are deflected through observations of others?Roman, Gloria, Ena, Gerardo. These relationships are shown
