that involves not just law enforcement and the court systems, but also partnerships with mental health facilities, shelters, and rehabilitative services that strike at the psychological and environmental roots of
domestic violence. This paper explores some of the current literature on the topic and provides support for suggested improvements to the official institutional policy response to domestic violence.
Literature Review Law enforcement organizations are run on a strategic basis, wherein organization leaders develop strategies in order to meet specific organizational goals and to respond to certain categories
of crime. For instance, when a law enforcement organization hopes to combat street-level drug-dealing, they might institute a policy of conducting traffic stops in that area, or plan a sting
operation. Such a strategy, while effective in that context, would be useless against home burglaries, however, which requires its own unique approach. In order for a law enforcement organization to
truly be successful, its multitude of strategies must be effectively well-suited to the operational context of the organization. When a strategy is not sufficient to help drive the organization towards
meeting its goal, failure is the result. For law enforcement officials, however, sometimes failure means catastrophic results such as severe injury or loss of life. For this reason, it is
vitally important that all law enforcement organizations strive to develop appropriate and effective strategies for combatting major criminal threats in all categories. As an example of this importance, this paper
