The liberals on the other hand, tried to prove the conservatives wrong by pointing out the media furor that arose over the impeachment trial of President Bill Clinton, a Democrat and moderate liberal. Regardless of the argument between liberals and conservatives however, there is little doubt that media can have a definite influence on how society regards events, whether those events involve celebrities were even war. One particular type of journalism that especially shapes society in this way is the newsmagazine. Unlike newspapers or television, newsmagazines (and their seamier cousins, tabloid magazines) have the leisure and resources to delve more deeply into a particular story. As a result, they attempt to take the reader "inside" an events. But again, what is the bias of these particular stories? That is what this paper will try to determine. Although much of society tends to decry the bad news-filled pages of newsmagazines, experts point out that such bad news keeps us reading (Abramsky B11). Sasha Abramsky, in her article "Crime as Americas Pop Culture," uses as an example the panic over the Washington-area sniper who began shooting people at random during the latter part of 2002 (Abramsky B11). Even while "the almost-daily attacks filled us with terror, kept us glued to the news outlets of our day and . . .
