based on an upgrade of a banks asset-liability management software (Gerson, 2005). In our particular scenario (based on a case study of what
happened when SunTrust Banks in Atlanta acquired Crestar Bank in 1998), SunTrust required a single risk modeling platform across the entire company that could evaluate balance sheet management strategies, as
well as provide analysis for traditional earnings- and value-at-risk information (Gerson, 2005). In our scenario, senior management would do the right thing, which
was basically to coordinate the different views of the future among both entities (Gerson, 2005). First, the purpose of the software needed to be determined -- and in this case,
