Cekada (2010) points out that an estimated $50 billion is spent annually on formal training, with up to $120 billion spent on more casual,
or informal, training. But another depressing statistic to throw into the mix is that only around 15% of training content is retained a year after the training event (Cekada, 2010).
This is where a training needs assessment comes in. First, a training needs assessment determines if training is the right solution to
a workplace problem and is defined as "an ongoing process" of gathering information and data to determine what needs exist so the proper training can be developed (Cekada, 2010).
The basis of this is that information is collected and analyzed, then a training plan developed (Cekada, 2010). Assessing Company Needs This is
