worldwide (NANDA-I, 2011). Founded in 1982, NANDA-I taxonomy encompasses over 200 nursing diagnoses, which aid nurses in achieving the goal of consistent documentation of their clinical judgment (NANDA-I, 2011). The
focus of NANDA is to standardize nursing vocabulary, which facilitates its incorporation into digital patient data systems, as well as other managed care environments (Duckett, 2007). NANDA-I classification has
three levels, with thirteen domains constituting the highest level, which is followed by 47 Classes and then 206 approved Nursing Diagnoses (Boldt, et al, 2010). Each approved nursing diagnosis follows
a consistent pattern internally, which is made up of different parts and includes a Diagnostic Code and a Diagnostic Label, as well as a Definition, Defining Characteristics and Related Factors
(Boldt, et al, 2010). As this suggests, NANDA-I Taxonomy II functions as a multi-axial system as it considers all possible factors and dimensions of patient behavior and response that should
be taken into consideration during the diagnostic process (Boldt, et al, 2010). Desiderata criteria Cimino (1998), in describing the Desiderata criteria for medical terminology suitable to the needs of
the twenty-first century, enumerates a variety of categories, each of which can be applied to NANDA-I nomenclature. The first of these categories pertains to content, as a classification system should
not be limited in its structure, but should rather be designed to include easily any new information or designations that are deemed desirable (Cimino, 1998). NANDA-I fits this criteria as
it has established procedures and requirements that facilitate the approval of new nursing diagnoses. The second category is concept orientation. In many instances, medical information research dealing with controlled
