be stated that Hinduism is quite different from most Western religions, and somewhat different from other Eastern religions. While Hinduism is a religion and also encompasses a variety of
ideas and concepts that have been embraced by New Ageism, one of the intriguing factors of the Hindu ideology is its embrace of mythology. There are in fact a great
deal of Hindu Gods and Goddesses. Some of the deities do comprise the basic core of Hinduism and apply to all sects. The Great Gods are Brahma (the Creator),
Vishnu (the Protector), Goddess Laxmi (Provider and Vishnus wife), Shiva (he Powerful God , Goddess Parvati (Shivas Consort) and Goddess Saraswati (Deity of Knowledge and Learning) ("A Brief," 2005).
Those are the more generally accepted gods, but around 1000 BC, Vedic Gods came into being (2005). It was at around the same time that the great scholars and
wise men would pay more attention to the development of metaphysics and philosophy (2005). It was also at this time that what came about where concepts such as heaven, divinity,
truth, the sanctity of birth, and sacrifice (2005). These were new concepts in general and gods were often aligned with one or more of these. Each god would be responsible
for a domain. For example, Vayu was the God of the Wind and Varuna the God of the Rains (2005). In addition to the gods, deities would become quite
