My Neighborhood Queens Queens, New York, or Queens County, New York, is a place rich with activity and rich with diversity. From
parks to nightclubs, stores and architecture it stands as a diverse and intriguing place to live. The city of Queens itself "is a borough in Queens County, one of the
five counties of New York City" This particular county/city "was named after Catherine of Braganza, queen of Charles II" (Queens, New York, 2006). "Queens is between the East River
and the Atlantic Ocean The region of Queens was first settled by Dutch people back in the 1640s and it was primarily an
agricultural region until the end of the 19th century (Queens, New York, 2006). It appears as though it became a powerful residential area, a place where people wanted to come
and live, once the Queensborough Bridge was opened in 1909 (Queens, New York, 2006). Today transportation possibilities involve the Long Island Bus and Long Island Railroad (Queens, New York, 2006).
The population of the county is roughly around 2 and 1/4 million people and as such there is a wealth of stores, schools,
