conflict has only occurred in the last decade or so, and especially after the attacks of 9/11, the truth is that as long as the Muslim and Christian communities have
existed there has been conflict. One of the most powerful times in history which illustrate the conflicts was the time of the Crusades. The following paper examines the history of
the Muslim and Christian conflict, with focus on the Christian Crusades which began in the 1100s. Muslim and Christian Conflict There are many different elements to the conflict
between the two religious groups. For example, there is the rigid religious ideals that seem to dismiss any sense of peace together on both sides. There is also the political
turmoil involved with control and fear. There are elements of struggles for territory and for economic advantages. In short, all aspects of political and social conditions seem to make up
the conflict between the two. One author notes that, "When Muslims seek to identify their natural allies in affirming divine values in the modern world, it is often sincere,
believing Christians who come to the fore" (Interreligious Dialogue, 2006). There are roots in the Muslim religion and the Christian religion that both link to Scripture. With the Muslim faith
"the Quran states: The closest in affection to [Muslims] are those who say: We are Christians, for among them are priests and monks and they are not arrogant (Quran 5:
82)" (Interreligious Dialogue, 2006). In the Christian faith the history involves serious attempts and decrees to bring peace between the two, with
