America (Sanders, 2003). There are in fact many people in the United States and each has their own culture and beliefs. Because there is separation of church and state, there
is the notion that schools should be secular. At the same time, multicultural aspects do enter the picture when, for example, a girl must wear a head covering to school
and the "no hat" rule gets in the way. While there is attention to diversity, it seems to be the case that the mainstream is white and Christian and therefore
privileged. Clark, Vargas, Schlosser & Alimo (2002) take a look at the idea of privilege, defining it as something where someone has "special access" and where something
is commonly accepted (2002). As the defining process ensues, tension mounts regarding those in that particular group who begin to associate the definitions of privilege with those other than
themselves (2002). The emergence of the dynamic does also connect the definitions of "Christian and privilege together" and authors claim that this forms the concept of Christian privilege
(2002). Authors point out that most Christians embrace an attitude of superiority and also a denial of the advantages they have (2002). Many White people in fact hold
these views (2002). In fact, many complain about reverse discrimination rather than acknowledge the fact that they are privileged. In nowhere is this more apparent than in politics. Every sitting
president has been white and Protestant, with the exception of John F. Kennedy who was white and Catholic. Of course, no one would argue that Kennedy comes from privilege due
