intergroup respect, tolerance and harmony. Conflict resolution is one of the major goals of this approach 3. Studying single groups. The goal is to develop knowledge of different cultural groups.
The focus is on the contributions and achievement of different groups and also to become knowledgeable about the culture of whichever group is being studied. 4. Orienting the total
school experience toward diversity issues. This approach is intended for all audiences with a goal of promoting human rights, equality, and respect for diversity. This approach attempts to make others
aware of a culture from the perspective of the members of that culture. 5. Education that is Multicultural and Socially Reconstructive. It has a focus on social reconstruction. The
approach is based on the premise that education itself is multicultural and therefore, should be included in all parts of the curriculum. It also helps students learn how to deal
with social injustice as well as social oppression. The school in which I teach is at the second level, human relations, discussing stereotypical attitudes towards different groups and working on
respect and tolerance of differences. The school needs to move forward, towards the Sleeter and Grants fifth approach. Each and every culture has made and continues to make contributions
to the world society. It is important that these achievements are brought out and discussed. For instance, some very old cultures made remarkable achievements in agriculture and literature hundreds of
