smooth and provide a solid basis for a continuing business relationship. Cultural Differences I think its fair to say that many Americans believe in the American way of
doing things so strongly they fail to understand other cultures may not feel the same. That is, Americans do not deliberately "charge" into meetings and seminars with the intention
of being rude; it simply never occurs to them that "playing hardball," or the "24/7/365" paradigm are not the only way to proceed. But other cultures have other rhythms,
other customs, and other ways of doing business that are just as valid, and they must be learned and respected if multicultural workforces are to succeed. Lets look at this
carefully. In our example, Ms. Telefaro is a first generation American; she was born in the U.S. but her parents are immigrants. Well assume that she is a successful
business woman, and in typical American fashion, a hard worker who wants to have a successful meeting with a potential associate. Mr. Singh, on the other hand, is from
