varied. Seldom, however, do these motivations evolve around financial rewards! From my own perspective, I want to become a teacher not only because I love and treasure children but because I want to make a difference in their lives! I have watched people since childhood and made correlations between the degree of their education and their status in life. People that have well-grounded educations almost always lead productive and happy lives. People that lack that educational grounding often lack not just the economic means for success but also the personal sense of satisfaction that comes with knowing ones direction in life. I want to become a teacher because I believe that I have both the patience and skill and that I can provide the guidance and support which will not only allow my students to reach their personal goals but which will propel them into a successful future. I have many plans for my teaching career and many of those plans have been shaped by my readings. Two pioneers in education have been of particular impetus to me in directing my career. These pioneers are Jean Piaget and Elizabeth Spelke. Through their writings I have not only formulated what it is that I see lacking in education but also what I can add to education. I am particularly interested in incorporating the creative process into the learning environment. Young children are both curious and anxious to be independent. They are faced with a sometimes confusing world in which many concepts seem to overlap and contradict yet they manage to learn at phenomenal rate.
