the United States his family moved back to their homeland and as such McCourt was faced with a childhood of utter poverty and oppression. The storys title is connected to
his mother, Angela, and as such it is a story that tells a great deal about mothers and mothering. The following paper provides ways in which one could analyze this
particular story, assisting the student with their own thesis and argument. Mothering: Angelas Ashes It should first be noted that the
student requesting this paper states that their assignment indicates the following: Please use your own words and own idea. AS such this paper is more of a tutorial, arguing a
couple of possibilities for analyzing Angela, rather than simply offering a concrete essay. This is to assist the student in the development of their own ideas. In this paper Angela
is examined as a woman with no options and also as a woman of great strength. Angela, like most women of her
time, was a woman without options and yet she struggled to do her best to keep her son, and children, strong in their characters. Without her, despite any of her
weaknesses, the children could not have grown as strong as they did. However, one can argue that she just kept having children despite their utter poverty, and argue that she
should have left her husband and found a better life. Such an argument is easy to claim in todays society in America
