They can evaluate programs and projects and restructure them for better performance. Another strength of the administrative leader is his ability to delegate appropriately. He recognizes talent and uses it towards the vision and goals. Moses was about 80 years old when began leading the Israelites to the Promised Land. He would spend another 40 years on that journey. His personality incorporated many characteristics that helped him be such a good leader. He was a humble man, for one thing. He was also a charismatic personality, which is demonstrated by his ability to bring more than a million people together to follow him on this dangerous journey across the desert. He was driven, though, to obey God. Moses was committed to this vision and the goal and frequently reminded people of this, especially when they became frustrated and ornery. When people opposed him, he reminded them of the great feats he had accomplished in Gods name so he continually gave the people hope and rekindled their faith. One of Moses great strengths as an administrative leader was his willingness to listen to others. He had already learned from his early education, he learned from the Pharaoh and he learned from this father-in-law. Moses delegated responsibilities to a panel of judges instead of trying to settle every dispute himself (Exodus 18:18-23). Much later we will read that even the Apostles began delegating the detail tasks to others so they could focus on what was of primary importance, teaching Christs Word. This is what Moses did. He identified jobs and tasks with the help of Joshua and others and delegated those jobs. This built trust among the people. ...
