is still fresh and unadulterated by a lifetime of struggle and disappointment. To appreciate all the elements of this brief morning encounter - rather than look upon them as
irritating or unnecessary - illustrates the extent to which these otherwise insignificant aspects of sand and water spray actually have an impact upon the writer. Perception is a critical component
of Morning Beach by virtue of the way this particular individual observes the simplicity of an early, dimly lit time of day when the shore represents complete innocence and anticipation.
The very nature of perception is that which we, as humans, have been trained to discern as a species, inasmuch as the certain quality of perception required within the
corporeal world is decidedly unique to human beings. Man looks upon his world as a direct reflection of him, his values, beliefs, experiences, conditions and development; as such, mans
consciousness, awareness and understanding are what dictate perception. To this writer, who is most obviously attuned with the most minute - if not fleeting - pleasures of life, this
