responsible while others believe that an entire groups, such as organizations, can be held morally responsible independently of their individual members (Risser, 2009). While it is true that organizations are comprised of a collection of single individuals, it is also true that those individuals react and respond to each other in such a way that certain types of behavior become acceptable organizationally. There are three criteria related to organizations being considered morally responsible agents. They must be intentional agents who can act (Risser, 2009). They must be able to conform to certain rules and understand how their actions affect other individuals and groups (Risser, 2009). They must be able to correct acts that are deemed immoral (Risser, 2009). Organizations meet these criteria and thus, they must accept moral responsibility for their actions. The strongest justification is the fact that the members of the organization all adhere to a set of procedures and policies which lead that organization to taking certain actions. The members of the organization deliberately design the procedures in order to meet certain goals. If harm is caused because of those policies and procedures, the members of the organization must bear the moral responsibility for those outcomes (Risser, 2009). This leads to what happens within the organization itself. The outcomes of the organization itself begins with the relationships within the organization. Both employer and employee have certain moral responsibilities towards each other. Employers have a moral obligation to look after the welfare of employees (Josephson, 2011). This obligation goes beyond an appropriate salary and good working conditions. Employers need to be concerned for their employees, be loyal to them, and handle any kind of negative event, like layoffs, with some degree of sensitivity (Josephson, 2011).
