However, with the advancement of technology, Montgomery Mutual Insurance Company has found itself struggling with the implementation of technology that should enhance, simplify, and revolutionize the manner in which it does business. Montgomery Mutual Insurance Company hopes that they can develop and implement a plan to bring all facets of their insurance business to a point when everything can be done without the use of paper - even for back up files. The implementation of a paperless system for policies - both personal and commercial - claims handling, billing and all other insurance processes would be most beneficial to the company and would enhance their competitiveness in the insurance field. In addition to development of the paperless systems, it will be important to obtain the cooperation of the employees to ease the process of implementation. Strategic planning and sustainable teamwork will be major ingredients to the success of the company. OVERVIEW AND HISTORY Incorporated in the State of Alabama in 1954, Montgomery Mutual Insurance Company first began offering only basic fire and burglary insurance. Their service area at that time included North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee. By the end of it first year of operation, Montgomery Mutual Insurance Company was demonstrating earned premiums in the amount of $480,000. Originally only employing 95 people in 11954, the company has grown through various acquisitions and mergers and now operates in all fifty states and the District of Columbia. As it grew, the company added lines of property and casualty insurance in each state. Now employing over 6,600 people and 4,000 independent agents nationwide, Montgomery Mutual Insurance now enjoys written premiums which have reached $2.5 billion per year.
