about controlling the change process and ensuring that actual tangible improvements result from undertaking the change. To put it simply, all instances of organizational change carry certain inherent costs. The
reason that these changes are nevertheless undertaken is because leaders believe that the organization will be in a better position to produce value after the change process, and consequently will
be able to offset that cost through the eventual accrual of greater profits. As such, change processes need to be carefully analyzed at each step of the implementation and beyond
in order to ensure that the change is actually creating a more flexible and ept organization that will be capable of overcoming the inherent costs of the change. Monitoring change,
then, is as important as the change strategy itself; or rather, monitoring must be a key part of the strategy and cannot be separated from the strategy. This paper will
explore the absolutely essential steps of monitoring organizational change. In this particular example, the organizational change which is being subjected to measurement and qualitative assessment is the implementation of electronic
health records in the Burn Unit at Brookes Army Medical Center. Brookes Army Medical Center is a major military hospital located near San Antonio, Texas, in the United States. Significantly,
it houses the only major Burn Unit in any military hospital and as such serves as the nexus at which all majorly burned soldiers are treated. This creates a great
deal of responsibility for the organization, as well as a significant impetus to improve the performance of the organization through increasing the efficiency of processes, reducing costs, and improving the
