areas such as productivity, resources, and outputs. There are a number of different models that may be used to assess the organization and the way that they may fit together,
each has a slightly different emphasis. The Nadler-Tushman Congruence Model looks at the transformation process from the stage of inputs to the stage of outputs. Inputs at Palm are numerous,
including the labour of the employees, reseach and development resources and knowledge, patents and capital assets, market reputation as well as many other influences. The model considers how these all
work together in order to for the output in terms of the organisation and may be used to assess the alignments with HP.
The task of Palm is that of the development mobile computing technology, both hardware and software, this is used to create items that are sold through wholesalers and
retailers with the software licences, including for the operating platform, to a number of other IT firms. The firm deals mainly with other businesses that act as middlemen in the
supply chain to the consumer, but the organization has to market to the consumers. The assessment of the different elements may reveal a high level of congruence, with many of
the same process, but aimed at different products, which are within the same markets, and may be complimentary. There are some areas where there is duplication, and the best processes
may be identified, it is known that HP have had difficulties in the hand held IT market, loosing market share. This is a model that focuses on the tasks.
