transient thoughts that are simply thrown together, but rather are the result of painstaking and systematic practical and theoretical research, which frequently incorporates the work of years of nursing practice
and research. Furthermore, it can be shown that models of nursing provide a sound foundation for the scientific expansion of nursing science and practice. This examination of nursing models shows
that these frameworks are not set in stone, but are adapted to work in conjunction with changing times and circumstances. Specifically, this literature review examines the common denominators that connect
nursing models, how they evolved and by whom and the practical uses that they serve with the UK nursing environment. This research also looks at specific questions, such as whether
