Obviously, the people are what is important to any organization. In most businesses, it seems that there ar programmers and project leaders but in using models that explain how to
manage people in such an environment, there is assistance for managers who are not quite sure what to do. Software companies in fact are quite challenged by many of
these things and need help in motivating and organizing their human resources (2002). SEIs People Capability Maturity Model (P-CMM) is an extraordinarily complex and comprehensive framework that contains five
distinct levels which build on one another (Curtis,Hefly & Miller, 2002). After an analysis of personnel factors, authors go on to explain the rest of the model or levels two
through five (2002). Maturity level 2 goes to management and level 3 to definition (2002). Levels four and five focus on predictability and optimization respectively (2002). The model actually
provides advice for those in the business as it respects attracting and retaining employees, effecting positive communication and creating a corporate culture that is conducive to software engineering (2002). What
authors do not do is to focus on things like employee satisfaction, because while valuable, they do not really give an organization the guidance to move ahead and create positive
software innovations (2002). This model is quite useful, but what is also true is that there is a model--as new as this one is--that has superseded it. It is
called The Measurement and Analysis process area and is believed to be an important support to CMMI (Goldenson, Jarzombek & Rout, 2003). What is different from the
newer to older paradigm? It seems that the newer one has a wider scope and is more explicit in terms of measurement (Goldenson, Jarzombek & Rout, 2003). The original model
