group of individuals in the military, yet with every news story and every political statement the word comes to mean one individual. When the news reports that, for example, say
3 troops were killed, they are speaking of three individuals, three soldiers, not three groups of people, and subconsciously people may envision groups. There are likely many reasons for the
misuse of this particular word, especially considering it seems to be only a recent misuse of the word. There is the possibility
that the misuse of the word is only a reflection of how America often changes language to suit its growing and changing society. There is the possibility that the misuse
of the word is because of conscious effort to direct the public opinion. There is also the possibility that the misuse of the word is society and the governments way
of dealing with seeing a troop as an individual, a person with fears and needs. The following paper examines the misuse of the word "troops." Misuse of the Word
