Faith & Culture, presents a persuasive argument that Muslims and Christians worship the same God. As this suggests, Volfs text seeks to reconcile these two major world religions by identifying
their commonalities. In achieving his goal, Volf also addresses the differences between the two religions. Nevertheless, examination of the text reveals that Volf does achieve the goal of his thematic
thrust, which is to demonstrate that the two religions share a broad expanse of common ground in terms of theology. Summation Volfs book consists of thirteen chapters divided into
four parts, which are bracketed by an introduction and an epilogue. In his introduction, he explains his purpose is to provide a bridge of understanding that will aid in addressing
the current hostility that separates these two great world religions. Volf states that his primary goal in writing the book is present a "a proper Christian stance" towards Islam and
the "God of the Quran," which will enhance the ability of both Christians and Muslims to live peacefully and collaboratively in a "single endangered world" (Volf 1). Part I,
"Disputes, Past and Present," covers both historic and recent conflicts that characterize relations between Muslims and Christians. This section offers readers a thorough grounding in the history of the
crusades and the conclusions of Christian religious leaders, such as Martin Luther, who considered the Muslim concept of Allah to be entirely false. Also, in this section, Volf also examine
more recent conflicts, such as the controversy that arouse over satirical cartoons that were published in 2005 in Denmark depicting Muhammad. In Part II, "Two Gods or one?," Volf,
