justice system clearly demonstrates a great deal of ignorance and disrespect for that individual; just because someone is a member of a certain race does not mean that he represents
any of the negative connotations associated with that race. African-Americans are victims of this sort of prejudice on a regular basis by being systematically interrogated by the criminal justice
system. Prejudice and discrimination abound toward the difference of skin color, ethnic origin and mental stability, and nowhere else is it more prevalent
than in the criminal justice system. Learning how to recognize the implications of such attitudes is the only way to fight against its continued allowance. Descriptions of such
racist portrayals range from criminal influence to linguistics to irrelevant information that is meant to "incite contempt or hatred" (Anonymous, 1999). One need only tune into the nightly news,
open a newspaper or listen to a radio broadcast to understand the extent of racial bias in the criminal justice system. On any given day, there are myriad reports
of crime and violent acts purportedly committed by persons of color, origin and ethnic background other than Caucasian. Such descriptions of the suspect are typically accompanied by derogatory racial
definition, yet if the perpetrator is white there is no association of race to the crime committed. Directly associated with the ever-expanding penal
