to use different programs that are proactive in nature to minimize violence in the workplace. VIOLENCE IN THE WORKPLACE When Sam McEliston walked in to the supervisors
office at the factory where he used to work, the supervisor thought Sam was there to pick up his last paycheck. Sam had been fired for having had one
too many drug tests come back positive. But what nobody realized was that Sam had a pistol in his jacket pocket, and two shotguns in the cab of his
pickup that he had parked near the front door. Pulling the pistol out Sam shot his supervisor point blank without a word. He then turned towards the factory
floor. Stunned workers at first thought the pop they heard was something exploding, or a firecracker going off. But those closest to him saw the pistol in his hand.
Someone screamed "hes got a gun" and everyone started screaming, running and trying to hide under desks. By the time it was all and the police had arrived,
there were three workers dead including the supervisor, seven wounded, and Sam had blown off the top of his head with a shotgun while standing outside near his pickup. This
scene is a fictitious one but not many would think so. The scene has been played out all too often in the last few years as workplace violence has
grown to become one of the most prevalent of mass scenes of murder. Disgruntled employees, people bearing a grudge against their boss or co-workers, and other weak excuses are
some of the reasons cited for workplace violence. What can be done to minimize these acts of violence, and stop them before they even get started? There have
