playing and mindfulness are good techniques to use in respect to family counseling and creating cohesion. Singh, Wechsler, Curtis & Sabaawi, et al. (2002) examine both processes and report
on a study that utilizes a "multiple-baseline design" and which was found to enhance the family friendliness of each of the components (2002). This was accomplished through mindfulness training and
even a follow up would reveal that there was continued friendliness (2002). One study done concerning mindfulness concerned a mindful delivery of mental health services which was found to produce
long term gains in family friendly admissions in respect to treatment teams (2002). It seems that for all intents and purposes, mindfulness training seems to be a positive intervention. Other
authors concur. OConnor (2001) reports that mindfulness training can help in the development of detachment skills. This is important in respect to family cohesion. Many times families are enmeshed and
individual members need breathing room. In other instances, family members are confrontational. Detachment is thus an important skill for family members to learn. Further, Brunnell, White, Cederquist & Braza
(1996) claim that mindfulness training is something that can alleviate boredom. Because boredom is often a problem that creates family friction, the alleviation of boredom is positive. Mindfulness or meditation
is a positive intervention and one that is utilized in family counseling matters as well as in individual situations. It seems that role playing is also anther method that is
positive and can help families. However, in the study conducted by Singh, Wechsler, Curtis & Sabaawi, et al. (2002) it seems that role playing is a good method
