Millstone handles the packaging and package design and production for food, tobacco, domestic products and so forth. Its marketing scheme is generally segmented or customer oriented and much of its
successful sales are for repeat items. The case study involves decisions made in terms of graphics production and some questions emerge as to the success of the endeavor and
whether or not there is anything that the company can do to improve production. At issue is getting things done in a timely manner and making sure that everything is
done accurately. The company has made changes to this end, but were those changes enough? Several questions are presented by a student. Were the changes effective and did they meet
the needs of the clients? As part of manufacturings responsibility to changing customer delivery requirements, are there any developments that need to be made in order to improve current arrangements?
In essence, did all that the firm accomplished improve the overall management of the departments and suggest customer satisfaction? First, it is important to explore some changes that were made.
For one, the company went from using rubber mats to using polymer plates for print transfers. This seemed to be a cost effective move, and it was one of many
changes. Essentially, what the firm did was to upgrade their equipment and they found that the added efficiency offset the price of the upgrade. The company also invested other moneys
into origination capabilities and this purportedly created a better flow in the origination department, but there were still problems. One of the problems that the studio continued to experience
