Discussion The military of any country is not like any other organization on the planet, except for the military establishments of other nations. It exists for one purpose only:
to engage in military action (i.e, armed conflict) when necessary. It is a very specialized mission, requiring training that is not applicable anywhere else. Very few civilian jobs require that
someone know how to drive a tank, fire artillery or fly a fighter; those jobs are specifically military in nature. The military is also unusual in that it takes
people of all races, colors and faiths and welds them into strong units. During book camp or officers training, individuals learn to work as a team, and (it is hoped)
shed some of their prejudices and bigoted thinking so they can put the mission ahead of everything else. The result of all the training is a large force of individuals,
many of whom have nothing in common except the uniform they wear. And yet this force has to move, think and fight as one. The only way that can happen
is if they follow orders. One of the purposes of boot camp is to instill discipline, which can be defined as the unquestioning and immediate response to orders. The idea
is that the new inductees learn this response in a safe environment so that when they get into combat, it is automatic. They dont waste time or endanger their lives
by stopping to think about the order; they automatically obey it. The military also frequently moves large numbers of people at once, and the only way to do that is
