advice that should be given to him concerning the military steps necessary to be taken against Iraq. MILITARY STRATEGIES In making advisement to the President on military action to
take against Iraq, the first plan of action to make clear would be that the United States intends to take strong military action and do what is necessary to stop
this enemy in its tracks. Because we are facing an enemy on their own ground, in terrain that is unfamiliar to our military but is very familiar to
that of the enemy, the plan of action would be to apply serious pressure to them by launching a multitude of tactical airstrikes. As one soldier explains it, "our
goal is getting them running, getting them to change their ways of operating so that they create vulnerabilities" (Ramo 54). It is obvious that by simply taking out the
leaders will not make the Iraqi Military helpless. They must be made to feel our full force. "It is hard to envision a situation where you would
get that perfect tactical intelligence for a ground attack" (Ramos 54) but that has not deterred President Bush. "Make no mistake about it--were in hot pursuit of terrorists," he
told reporters last Friday, although he added that he understood it is "very hard to fight a guerrilla war with conventional forces" (Ramos 54). Because the United States is dealing
with guerilla warfare and this is a much more difficult venue in which to fight, the United States must go carefully but forcefully ahead and not pull out of the
battles. There are those in Iraq and Afghanistan who think the United States will go to pieces over this war and that it will divide and conquer us.
