increase profits, whereas a move in the wrong direction has the potential of turning a profit into a loss. There has been a great deal of research undertaken to examine
the impact that currency exchange rates have on a business, with a range of strategies and a focus on the way that firms may reduce or mitigate the risk
with hedging tools. This appears to separate the firm and the economy, with the firm being seen only as an influenced rather than an influencing factor.
However this may be seen as a short sighted approach. In many instances it is argued that the micro and the macro economic environment are separate,
and the firm will be able to impact and proactively influence the microenvironment, whereas under traditional macroeconomic theories they can only respond to the microenvironment. However, the microenvironment sees the
impact on a number of firms, and as such there is a link between the macro and the micro environment, this link may be seen more clearly when looking at
large firms which undertake a high level of international trade. The macroeconomic is made up by the actions and as a result of the way that the businesses in an
economy. The currency exchange rates can be seen as a part of this interaction, but there is a lack of research in this area (Taylor, 2001).
Looking at a company such as Boasteel may provide a good case to argue for a potential greater level of interaction, with the impact of the
