stereotype that artists are gay that led to suggestions of the early artists sexual preferences, or perhaps they did prefer an alternative lifestyle. Yet, in reading about the artists, it
seems that they had little time for much else but their true love, which was art. They have also been identified as being left handed ("Hail" PG). Those are just
two trivial similarities between the great artists. In looking at their lives, there are many more similarities but there are differences too. Netia Davan Wetton today looks
at Leonardo da Vincis works for the spirit behind them (North 16). The researcher had taken on a project called Music for the Mona Lisa where early 16th century Italian
and French music is played to hear the inspiration that was perhaps a part of Leonardo da Vincis life (16). In fact, da Vinci created the Mona Lisa while listening
to music (16).It is believed that the artist loved music and it has always been known that music does affect emotions directly (16). A da Vinci quotation is as
follows "A good painter must paint two things above all others the person and the intent of that persons soul" (qtd. in North 16). Clearly, Da Vinci was a deep
thinker. The Mona Lisa smile of course is infamous. North contends that in order to capture that look, a painter would have to encompass the mood and expression which
mandated a "snapshot" approach (16). It also demonstrated a high caliber of technical achievement (16). No one would argue that Leonardo Da Vinci was a master at his chosen craft.
