This paper looks at websites that discuss Moore, and examines them for logical fallacies in connection with the arguments they raise concerning his work. Discussion The first website is called "Spinsanity," (http://www.spinsanity.org/); following the links to "who we are" reveals that the three young men behind Spinsanity are Ben Fritz, Bryan Keefer and Brendan Nyhan (Spinsanity). They are all recent college graduates; Fritz is with "Variety," Keefer is with Columbia Journalism Review; and Nyhan is a political science graduate student at Duke University (Spinsanity). The website claims to be nonpartisan, and the three say they created it because they are "deeply concerned that our public political dialogue, largely expressed through the channels of the mass media, is becoming systematically dominated by sophisticated tactics of manipulation rater than norms of public reason." (Spinsanity) Its their mission to use "rigorous non-partisan analysis" to expose this "spin" (Spinsanity). They have critically examined the work of people from every political stripe, and do appear to be non-partisan. With regard to Michael Moore, the Spinsanity critics assert that Moore made several (four, at their count-though they say others have compiled "voluminous" lists) distortions of facts. They dont say he got the facts themselves wrong, but that he manipulated them to mislead people (Nyhan). In one instance, Moore apparently "doctored" the Willie Horton ad that was used to derail Michael Dukakiss presidential campaign; in Moores film, the caption reads "Willie Horton released. Then kills again."
