Many labels have been placed upon Jacksons odd behavior over the course of his trial, not the least of which has been psychopathic. Psychopathology addresses the issues of behavioral and psychological dysfunction as they relate to social disorganization; as such, analyzing the behavior Jackson has been exhibiting must originate from a perspective of his upbringing. The mass media have long indicated how Jackson grew up in a less than hospitable family environment, which is considered valuable insight as to the motivating factors for his behavior as an adult. Two articles clearly depict the association between family life and how an individuals psychopathology inevitably develops: Parental Conflict And Self Esteem: The Rest Of The Story by Pawlak and Klein, and Sheks The Relation Of Family Functioning To Adolescent Psychological Well-Being, School Adjustment, And Problem Behavior. While both articles address the inherent importance of bringing up children in a loving, healthy environment, they each also bring to light the consequences of what occurs when such a home life is not the case. People like Jackson who, as infants, spend their formative years within the confines of a hostile, abusive or dysfunctional family setting are significantly more prone to repressed psychological development in the form of psychopathic behavior. The social, political, economical and religious activities experienced in everyday life represent the very essence of what it means to be a human being.
