recognize that sexuality is "Gods good gift to all persons," the Methodist Book of Discipline also affirms that people must be "disciplined" and "responsible" to themselves, as well as others
and society in their "stewardship of this gift" ("Human," 2004). While the Methodist Church recognizes that all individuals are sexual, regardless of their marital status, it also affirms that "sexual
relations are only clearly affirmed in the marriage bond" ("Human," 2004). As this indicates, the Methodist Church takes a firm stance against any form of premarital sex. The policy
statement goes on to point out that outside of marriage, sex can become exploitative. Certainly, this is true in casual sex, which tends to objectify the sex partner purely in
terms of sexual attraction, as the partners may only know each other as people on a cursory basis. This sort of relationship cheapens and degrades the gift of sexuality. The
Methodist Church only those sexual relations that enhance humanity, while rejecting "all sexual expressions that damage or destroy the humanity God has give us as birthright" ("Human," 2004). This policy
statement specifically states that when partners are "exploitative, abusive or promiscuous," they have stepped outside of the "parameters of acceptable Christian behavior," by engaging in behavior that is "ultimately destructive
to individuals, families and the social order" ("Human," 2004). The policy statement then goes on to indicate its opposition to any form of commercialization or exploitation of sex, while
also calling for enforcement of laws that prohibit the sexual exploitation and use of children by adults for sexual purposes, stating that perpetrators should be held legally responsible for their
